Freeze ground beef in one pound portions. Most recipes call for increments of pounds. I use a quart freezer bag and flatten ground beef to fill all corners and get as much air out as I can. In a pinch... take out the packages and cut the meat into quarters (easily done after a slight thaw in the microwave... no need to totally thaw) and you have square quarter pound burgers.

great ideal. I buy them in square shape here at Charles Iga. They are very low in fat sirloin so I have to add water to pan to keep them from burning.
They are quite a bargain at less that $3 a pound. Here at other stores ground beef is that price and higher. I will keep your ideal in mind if I can find any some where else.
Thanks Grammy.
Our local commissary sells the small square packs too... most are around a pound so I just leave them as they are and use them for things like soup and spaghetti sauce. We can usually find some in the mark down bin. We are on the "High Prices Diet"... the prices are going so high that we don't have any choice, but to eat less :-)Thank you for your comment
